Microsoft have been encouraging people to host informal Windows 7 launch “parties” in their kitchens….. for real!!!

I’m Speechless!

Are Microsoft ‘Out of their Vulcan Minds’ on what planet did they ever think this was a good idea, let alone anything else but cringe worthy.

Everybody cheer for the 22nd, it’s gonna be kickin, check out microsoft houseparty.com for more… seriously please don’t.

Now here’s the kicker, Am I wrong about this?????

I’m revisiting this post a day later and thinking maybe Microsoft are very much ‘In’ their Vulcan Minds!!!

First off I gotta say, I don’t get this campaign at all, I would rather go back to Netscape Navigator v1.0 for a week than host, attend or in any other way participate in a party centred around a product launch for anything, let alone MS software. Okay if my local store ‘X’ wants to invite me for a launch and ply me with wine and more wine, then hell yeah, thats a win(e) win(e) situation (I’m not a glass of wine kinda girl, more like a full bottle), otherwise forget about it.

Second off, I’m glad I don’t get it, because if I really actually was that sad, then shoot me please.

So back on topic; If you consider this a viral campaign and believe the adage; ‘All Publicity is Good Publicity’ and then notice that its been viewed 1 million times + on youtube alone, with still 10 days to T minus zero, then thats good inning’s: Goal Achieved

Also, the campaign is backed up with a free party pack that you can request online, thus getting more Microsoft branding into your home, and a feel good factor of getting something for free, even if it does turn out to be utter tripe: Ball in the Net

Considering this is an extra angle on top of the standard product promo, it’s essentially enrolling a different or indeed new market of active participants in the MS dream: again, Score.

And Lastly; the 4 people worldwide who actually host the aforementioned travesty, and their unfortunate guests who, without labeling the muppets unjustly, need a new life, cos clearly this one is serving no purpose, might actually think this is the best thing since sliced bread: Yep, Goal.

Rant over, and the score is Microsoft 4, Intelligence 0.
Now I have to deal with my personal guilt of wasting 30 minutes of precious life on this, and oh No, I’ve just realized I’m propagating the viral campaign. aaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!!
